Working Together To Help Grow Our Community
The Ketchikan community is a uniquely beautiful areas filled with nature, commerce, art, culture, and history.
Like you, we regularly make purchases for our business. Whenever possible, we always ‘Look Local First” – a campaign we started a decade ago because it is so important for our community.
Money spent locally creates a ripple effect as businesses and their employees spend their earnings locally. This creates a cycle where a higher percentage of every dollar spent at locally-owned businesses gets re-deployed back into the community and local business is able to support the arts and sports for our children.
If the owner of a local Ketchikan business is a local resident, then he/she is more likely to spend his/her earnings on products and services here in the area.
Also, a Ketchikan business is more likely to utilize other local businesses to provide services (e.g., accounting, legal, advertising/marketing, catering, and entertainment). These businesses will, in turn, have more money to invest back into this area. Through sales taxes, we can fund the demand for education, law and order and raft of services and programs for the city.
Local businesses provide jobs for our neighbors and the more you can do to aid local business growth, the more jobs you’ll help create. Simply put, if residents spend more at locally-based businesses, it pumps more money into our local economy and leads to:
- More companies doing business in the Ketchikan area.
- More jobs in Ketchikan.
- Higher demand for housing and commercial space in our communities.
- More funding for our area that translates into more services for residents.
With an increasing number of people perusing the global marketplace online, it has never been more important to "Look Local" and support our local business owners.
Let's work together to help grow our communities.
Sincerely,
Brittany Rickard
